About This Novel
Many years have passed, and people say that old things can be buried, but I finally understand that this is wrong, because the past will crawl back up on its own. Looking back, I realize that for the past twenty-six years I have been peering down that deserted trail. Amir, a 12-year-old Afghan boy from a wealthy family, and his servant Hassan are brothers. However, after a kite competition, a tragic thing happened. Amir felt remorse and pain for his cowardice and forced Hassan to leave. Soon, he fled to the United States with his father.
