The horror of this book is that it gives people a depressing and dark feeling. There are many innocent souls in Gu Mansion. What is frightening is the evil and darkness in the hearts of the people who live in the Mansion. They are neither humans nor ghosts, exuding a sinister and evil aura from the inside out and a suffocation that is so oppressive that they can't breathe.
