If the Buddha does not come east, I will go west
We are accustomed to praying for blessings in front of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, but we don't know that blessings come not through seeking but through cultivation. If you continue to get rid of evil thoughts and deeds, no amount of prayer will be of any use. When we say we believe in Buddhism, we actually believe in cause and effect. If you want to get blessings, you have to plant causes; if you want to avoid suffering, you have to cut off all evils. All happiness and misfortune depend on you. Therefore, it is said: It is better to seek Buddhism than to learn Buddhism. Learning the great compassion and great wisdom of Buddhism is the real cause of happiness.
