About This Novel
That spring, Ding Yi was hospitalized for appendicitis and met the young and handsome surgeon Man Wenfang. It happened that Dr. Man returned to his hometown and needed to find a "girlfriend." After Ding Yi learned about it, he volunteered to be Dr. Man's "temporary girlfriend." When she followed Dr. Man through the mountains and reached Manjialing, Ding Yi saw for the first time what real hardship, poverty and backwardness was. She was not scared away, but instead admired and felt sorry for Dr. Man who came out of the mountains. She put aside all her pride and followed Dr. Man with the enthusiasm of a moth to a flame. After going through all kinds of hardships and compromises, they finally got married. Doctor Man has a successful career and a high degree of education, but he still has not gotten rid of the "rules" of Lingshang. He is old-fashioned and dull, and does not understand the style. After marriage, he and Ding Yi often had frictions because of their different personalities and habits. This situation did not improve after the two arrived in the United States. The indifference, alienation, suspicion and uneasiness in the marriage made Ding Yi, who was full of expectations for love, fall into the abyss of despair again and again...

Although I don't understand the style, forgive me for wanting to cry for no reason
I finished reading it in one sitting yesterday, and I don't know exactly what attracted me to it. After reading it, I worried about gains and losses for a long time, felt depressed, and felt like crying but no tears. A letter from Man Wenfang gave me hope and comforted myself at the same time. In fact, Xiao Man also loves Ding Yi, but he doesn't understand romance and thinks that as long as he loves her in his heart, it is enough. At the beginning of the novel, Xiaoman was focused on his career and planned to return to Manjialing in the future. However, faced with his parents' pressure to get married, he had no choice but to meet Ding Yi by accident, and then fell in love and got married. But whether it was love or marriage, he never took the initiative. Because he wanted a boy, he later even wanted to abort the child in Ding Yi's belly, but was stopped by Ding Yi in the end, and then came to the United States to have a child. After coming to the United States, perhaps his strong patriotic feelings aroused his homesickness, but his wife and daughter needed him, so he stayed with her; but Ding Yi began to look for a job and did not want to be supported all the time. However, when she worked hard to get a job, Xiao Man may have felt that the time was ripe for Ding Yi to take care of herself and her daughter, so she divorced ruthlessly and returned to China to continue her career ambitions. Finally, he wrote a letter to Ding Yi, which can be said to be his most emotional language in the whole book. He said that he would improve Manjialing, and hoped that his daughter would help him after she studies medicine. He also left a place in his hometown to wait for her to return. I read it a few more times today and gradually understood it better. Divorce is a choice that has the best of both worlds. Xiaoman has had deep feelings for his hometown since he was a child and will definitely go back, but Ding Yi may not necessarily go back to Manjialing, and he doesn't want to force her, maybe so that he can devote himself to his career; and Ding Yi, after leaving Xiaoman, slowly found his own life. The ending is still happy
Sakyamuni said that no matter who you meet, he is the person who should appear in your life. He has a reason and a mission. It is no accident. He will definitely teach you something.
This is how life is, full of joy, you fly into the flame for love, but what do you get in the end? Fortunately, Man Wenfang's parents couldn't live with them in the city, otherwise there would definitely be bigger quarrels over the relationship between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law.
The plot is actually quite boring. Ding Yi falls in love at first sight, but Dr. Man is indeed too robotic, full of his own plans and Manjiazhuang. Such a person cannot feel Ding Yi's enthusiasm. But the most beautiful story is probably the letter that Dr. Man left after the two divorced, which finally ended Ding Yi's pursuit for many years!
It's well written. I think the male protagonist may love the female protagonist, but he loves himself more. There's nothing scary about a man who doesn't understand amorous feelings. What's scary is his indifference.
The ending is melancholy. Every time I read the novel, I feel like I am looking at my own future. I feel heartbroken. I still hope that the heroine can be happy, although... It is really sad for a woman to not have her own career and life, and it is easy to have random thoughts. I feel like the male protagonist is really hard to accept except for the female protagonist.
It has always been quite heart-wrenching. Two people with completely different personalities did not change each other in the end, but the ending letter made people sad. Man Wenfang still remembered that Ding Yi said that he would be burned into ashes and put into the tomb after death. In the end, they still loved each other.
Give it five stars. The narrative is plain yet ups and downs, the characters are distinct, and the language is close to life. But the story seems not to be over in the end. The character of the male protagonist is not acceptable to ordinary people. When his wife pays too much, there is no good result in the end. If the female protagonist does not love the male protagonist very much, she may not be able to persist for a day. The male protagonist doesn't know how good the female protagonist is to the male protagonist. I really want to see the ending where the male protagonist realizes and regrets it. Although the article emphasizes that it's not a big deal if you don't grow old in the end, in China we still care about being together for the rest of our lives. Very few people can achieve this state, and it's always a pity if we can't.
The ending is very dull, very real and realistic article
