Seihei Twilight (work by Shuhei Fujisawa)
About This Novel
Fujisawa Shuhei's most famous short story collection, Twilight Seihei, Kusanagi Yomon, Flatterer Jinnai, Forgetful Manroku, Silent Yasuke, Babbling Hanpei, Kanagawa Yojiro, Beggar Sukehachi - eight alternative swordsmen with an inelegant name and unattractive appearance, but they possess unique skills and hidden landscapes. They had no intention of participating in the important affairs of the vassal state, but the small things at home were what they cared about. Buying food, cooking, and taking care of a sick wife were even greater than the temptation of fame and fortune, and higher than the orders of their master. Eight concise short stories, calm and powerful writing, quietly subvert the image of heroes that people are accustomed to, and completely reverse the values of "establishing oneself in the world and being righteous and honorable" respected by traditional society. The famous director Yoji Yamada adapted the film of the same name and won dozens of awards. The translation of Li Changsheng's ironing post, "the first person to know Japan's culture", has been newly compiled.
