About This Novel

"The Belarusian Hercules" begins with the story of the Tianjin Wushu Organization's "Guoshu Practice Association" organizing a challenge to the Belarusian Hercules Niknov in 1916, interspersed with the story of the grandson of Gao Qingzhu, the martial artist who defeated Niknov in 1979. The story of first love combines the Chinese people's attachment to "foreigners" with martial arts movies, martial arts anecdotes, and stories of youth in the 1980s over a historical span of more than half a century and four generations, and depicts an interesting "hidden history."
