About This Novel

A great novel on par with "Resurrection", "Siddhartha" and "The Tribulation". A journey of seeking truth in the style of Tarkovsky's masterpiece "Andrei Rublev". My whole life I have struggled with the paradox of love, a life lived by four people with different bodies and different names. What do I have in common with that light-haired boy? Memory? Life is reminiscent of a mosaic and falling into pieces. I truly understand life when I truly face the cruelest side of life. Will freedom from memory be my absolution and salvation? Yevgeny Vodorazkin is one of the most influential writers in the contemporary Russian literary world. He has become another "Russian chief writer" after Pelevin and Shishkin and is well-known in the international literary world. His masterpiece "Ravl" was published in 2013 and won the Russian "Big Book Award" that year. It was regarded by many critics and writers as the most important literary event in the year of its publication. This work established Vodorazkin's important position in contemporary Russian literary circles. The novel is set in ancient Russia in the 15th century and revolves around the life of a medieval doctor named Arseny. The protagonist's lover Ustjina died in childbirth while the two were unmarried, and Arseni was tortured by his conscience. In order to find salvation, he decided to embark on a journey of seeking truth alone, trying to find the answer that would bring him peace of mind.
