The story tells that as she grows up, the protagonist sees that everything about her is getting worse and worse, and she can no longer find the smoothness of the past. She has a negative attitude towards things, a sense of inferiority and anxiety, coupled with the inability to digest the blame brought by her family and the heavy academic pressure. After going to a psychiatric hospital for treatment and being "enlightened" by a psychiatrist, the protagonist's hallucinations become more serious. She wants to play a role similar to "Peter Pan", and she cannot vent her dissatisfaction with life and her disgust towards herself. The hallucination invades reality, and she falls in love with the lively, simple and kind "self" in her memory. This image comes from an old photo, in which she is smiling and lying among dandelions. This carries all the good memories of the protagonist's childhood and is also the protagonist's only hope to escape the real world. The protagonist cannot distinguish between illusion and reality, so the beautiful girl appears to chat and laugh with her, and then disappears without a trace. The protagonist is almost frantically looking for the girl, longing for false love and understanding, which seems to imply that she is desperate to find herself. At the end of the book, the protagonist remembers her dream in the hallucination: learning to fly like Peter Pan, and the hope that supported her life has been transferred to realizing the impossible dream. At this point, the hallucination has completely engulfed the real world. In the fantasy, she chooses to jump off the cliff, and in the conscious world at the last moment, she completes the eternal union with the "self" she has been pursuing. From the perspective of the protagonist, she finally completes the liberation from being understood.
