About This Novel
The protagonist of "Praying for Rain" is a Dragon King Temple in Jindouping Village. The novel shows the struggle of rural people against feudal superstition in the early days of the founding of the People's Republic of China and their final victory. The text is humorous and vivid, and it is a very excellent work. "Floor" explores the debate over who creates wealth between "floor" and "labor" in the context of land reform at that time, through a dialogue between two characters named Wang - landlord Wang Laosi and primary school teacher Wang Laosan. "Little Manager" tells the story of how Sanxi, a young Communist Party member, transformed Wang Zhong, the old owner of the cooperative, through learning and wisdom, and successfully managed the cooperative. These stories reflect that in that era, through learning, practice, and struggle, individuals were able to grow and push the collective forward.
