About This Novel

In London in 1780, a gambling craze was sweeping the entire UK. When the wounded combat hero Major Marcus Forrester returned to his hometown from the battlefield, he angrily discovered that his adoptive father Sir Roderick's estate had been defrauded by his cousin Sebastian and a group of gamblers, and his fiancée Philippa also left him. Marcus vowed to take back the manor, but a piece of deed in Sebastian's hand made him powerless. By chance, the beautiful wandering girl Tassie broke into Marcus's world and promised to help him deal with his cousin. Tassie's enthusiasm, stubbornness, beauty and cleverness made Marcus irresistible, and Tassie also fell in love with the kind-hearted Marcus. But there are many contradictions between this cute girl with a bit of "ruffianism" and the major who is bent on revenge. Is Tassie really an innocent girl or a street gangster who is good at disguise? Did Marcus just use Tassi as a pawn? Now that Philippa has changed her mind, where will Marcus go?
