Disqualified from the World
About This Novel
"Disqualification in the World" (also known as "Disqualification as a Human Being") was published in 1948. It is an autobiographical novel. The delicate autobiography reveals the ultimate decadence and is a destructive masterpiece. Dazai Osamu skillfully hides his life and thoughts in the life experience of the protagonist Ye Zang. When "I" was a child, I saw the subway in a picture book. "I" always thought that it was designed and built because the fun of riding a car underground is much higher than that on the ground. I never thought that it was built for actual needs.
"I" was born in the northeastern countryside, and I am not considered well-informed. The first time I saw a train was when I was a little older. At that time, "I" climbed up and down the overpass, thinking that it was just to make the train station as interesting as a foreign amusement park. Climbing up and down like this was very special.
"I" have been in poor health since I was a child and am often sick, so I spend most of my time in bed. When lying on the bed, "I" think these beddings are the most boring decoration. But it was only when I was in my twenties that I realized how practical these things were.
