About This Novel
"Chronicles of Baizhen" tells the story of life in Baizhen from the 1960s to the 1990s. It uses generation history and the life experience of the protagonist Zhu Hongzhao as clues to outline a custom picture of rural life. Through the protagonist's challenge to fate and the evolution of youthful recklessness in the logic of human nature, the novel shows the secluded and barren land, the dull and simple villagers, the warm and touching family ties, and the stranglehold between family and officialdom... Today, when romantic urban legends are prevalent, and when the glory of human nature and the dignity of life are gradually being swallowed up by secular life, the novel attempts to guide us to pay more attention to the rural soul through the heavy past events. The novel does not have violent language narration, but adopts more of the narrative voice of traditional novels. A large number of dialects and slang describe the heavy earthy atmosphere for us, and a large number of life details restore the reality of life for us, making people feel the power of local literature and the poetic effect of resisting the alienation of modern civilization.
