About This Novel
Lingnan was originally the land of Baiyue. Because it was separated by the Five Ridges, its lifestyle and customs were quite different from those in the Central Plains of the same period. After Qin unified the six kingdoms, it established counties and counties in Lingnan, stationed a large number of Qin troops, and moved merchants and criminals to Lingnan. The Lingnan area began to be under the rule of the central government. With Han and Yue being mixed together, the Yue people were influenced by Han cultural customs on the one hand, and on the other hand, they retained the traditions of Baiyue culture and enriched the connotation of Lingnan culture. This book combines archaeological and documentary materials to examine the cultural characteristics of the Han and Yue people in the Lingnan area and the cultural conflicts and integration between the two. It hopes to understand the cultural landscape of Hong Kong during the Qin and Han Dynasties through discussing Lingnan culture.
