History of Water Management and Transportation in China
by Zhao Weiping
About This Novel
Water transportation and canal transportation in ancient China lasted for nearly two thousand years. Water transport in each dynasty had its quantity and expansion, but essentially it was sustainable in the Ming and Qing dynasties and unsustainable in the Ming and Qing dynasties. This book divides the history of ancient Chinese water transportation into two stages: the Ming and Qing dynasties. The former continuously fulfilled the ancient Chinese water transportation dream and was essentially sustainable. The latter pursued the sustainability of river transportation despite being unsustainable and also had the spirit of constantly realizing the dream. The first volume mainly studies the history of water transportation from Yu the Day to the Yuan Dynasty, demonstrating the ancient Chinese people's spirit of dreaming about water transportation; the second volume mainly studies the history of river and canal management in the Ming and Qing dynasties, showing their pursuit of sustainability despite the unsustainability of canals.
