The book is divided into five chapters. The first chapter introduces the basic situation of the early environment and farming in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. Chapters 2 to 4 focus on the changes of the environment itself, the transformation of the environment, and the adaptation to the environment respectively, and elaborate on the role of environmental factors in the agricultural development process of the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River in the Han, Jin, and Southern Dynasties. Chapter 5 examines the impact of agricultural development on the ecological environment in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River during the Han, Jin, and Southern Dynasties. This book analyzes the dialectical relationship between agricultural development and environmental changes in historical periods, breaking through previous assumptions and pointing out that agriculture also has the function of protecting nature, stabilizing ecology, and promoting harmony between man and nature. Especially when the intensity of agricultural development is not high, its positive impact on the ecological environment far outweighs its negative impact.
