About This Novel

This book is another masterpiece of the author that focuses on the history of the Northeast region and the history of relations between Northeast Asian countries after "Once Upon a Time in Sakhalin". The author looks at the history of the Heilongjiang River Basin for three thousand years, focusing on the important figures and events in the basin in the past 300 years, and focusing on reviewing the reasons for the loss of territory in the Heilongjiang River Basin in the Qing Dynasty. It has historical materials, opinions, and emotions. It is a rare historical non-fiction work.

This book can be given 8 points

It took me a month to finally finish reading this book. I read it quite slowly, mainly because I haven't had much time to read recently. The content is mainly written around the history of Heilongjiang. The cited materials are relatively credible. However, I feel that the descriptions of some major events such as the Battle of Yaksa, the Treaty of Nerchinsk, and the Treaty of Aihun are not detailed enough. In addition, the span of events is not enough. The content of Heilongjiang before the Qing Dynasty is somewhat sparse, and the related history of Heilongjiang in the Republic of China and New China after the Qing Dynasty is even less. If this book is regarded as a pure history of Heilongjiang in the Qing Dynasty, it would be great.
