About This Novel

The first volume of this book (chapters 1 to 14) is divided into four parts: Saxon invasion, Scandinavian invasion, Norman conquest, and the consolidation and development of the Anglo-Norman dynasty in England. This period of history witnessed the early turmoil, division and reunification of England. If you want to have a deeper understanding of the culture of England today, this history is an indispensable cornerstone. Among them, the most noteworthy thing is that in the last three chapters of this volume, the author deliberately describes the rise and decline of the Angevin dynasty, explains the origin of the contradiction between Britain and France, and lays the groundwork for the Hundred Years War between Britain and France, which dominates the second volume.

I feel that it is more comprehensive, but perhaps because it is comprehensive, there are too few details. It is okay to read it as a general history book, but I will probably need to find more detailed history books to fill in the details.
