About This Novel

I concoct a semi-imaginary life from the real plot of life. This is my life. "Facts: The Autobiography of a Novelist" is the first book in Philip Roth's "Roth Series". The novel begins and ends with two letters between "I" Roth and Zuckerman (the second self created by the author). It is divided into five parts: Prologue, Safe Home, Joe College, The Girl of My Dreams, and now we may begin to trace the life trajectory of "I" from a boy in a Jewish town to a successful novelist. Under the strict non-fiction narrative, the novel presents an "unmodified" "Ross" - a budding artist, student, son, lover, husband, American, Jew, and openly explores the relationship between novels and autobiography: how close it is, how far away it is.
