dead people can talk
What surprised me most about this book was not the reasoning, but the temperament of the protagonist. Su Wan is a forensic doctor. The setting itself is not new, but the writing is very honest - she does not pretend, does not sensationalize, and does not frown when she sees the corpse. After being chased half an alley, the first thing she did when she recovered was to go find the widower tomorrow to ask about the poison. This kind of calmness is not a persona, it reads like something that is really engraved in one's bones. There are also disadvantages. The male protagonist Pei Jingyuan is still a standard "cold-faced and affectionate" template, and I look forward to having more of his own edges in the future. The case is currently being laid out well, but the threat of the Taishi Mansion is still at the "mentioned" stage, and it has not really made people feel oppressive. But the overall rhythm is that after reading the beginning, you want to know the next chapter.
