Frankfurt's Cool Chinese Dad
by Slowly
About This Novel
This book is another wonderful "new immigrant novel" after "Battle of Youth in Frankfurt" by Xu Xu, a "representative writer of new immigrant novels" in Germany. Mali, a native of Shanghai, parachuted into the wealthy area of Frankfurt, Germany, and became neighbors with Miller, a German. This pair of Chinese and German men, both middle-aged, middle-class, and single fathers, started a series of confrontations. Miller sourly discovered that his Chinese neighbors were better than him in terms of financial resources, social skills, children's education, social status, and attraction to women. However, Mali, the seemingly successful and determined Chinese cool dad, hides a bitter past and anxiety about the future. This is a story about a comprehensive competition between a Chinese middle-aged man and a German middle-aged man. It reflects the collision and integration of various concepts in the process of Chinese people's overseas struggle against the background of China's rise. It also shows Chinese readers the fresh form of daily life in German society.
