About This Novel
The protagonist Toby is a porter. He is sixty years old and still busy with life. The day before Christmas, he stood in front of the church, braving the wind and snow, hoping to wait for an errand. His daughter Meg finally found a job, earned some money, and prepared a delicious meal for him - a pot of braised tripe. The novel begins around this pot of tripe and ends in the joyful atmosphere of a beautiful wedding.
