About This Novel
Sima Qian's "Historical Records" is a famous work in ancient my country with both historical and literary value. This masterpiece has become a model for scholars' composition and a reference for studying history for thousands of years. It is known as "the historian's swan song and the rhymeless lissao". Our translation of "Historical Records in Vernacular Chinese" follows the principles of "faithfulness, expressiveness and elegance", with particular emphasis on being faithful to the original text. When choosing the translation language, we try to take into account the objective historical conditions when using documents in "Historical Records"; we strive to implement the original text word for word and sentence by sentence on the premise of accurately understanding the meaning of the text and coordinating grammatical phenomena: in order to make the translation accessible and credible, so that readers can understand and read the original text of "Historical Records" well when reading this book. Since its publication in 1994, Yuelu Publishing House's "Vernacular Historical Records" has been very popular among readers. It has been reprinted many times, with a cumulative print run of more than 100,000 copies.

After reading 130 chapters in the book, I feel that the sky of history is vast. Chen She, Dongfang Shuo, Ximen Bao. Reading their stories gave me more expectations and confidence in the world~
