The chaotic times of the late Sui Dynasty were influenced by various romance novels, which often led to many misunderstandings. It is rare that the author used the language of novels to present that period of history in a fascinating way. I think the style is highly consistent with "Those Things in the Ming Dynasty" and is worth reading.
