New Exploration of British History: Medieval British Society and Law
About This Novel
This book is a selection of papers from the Third Sino-British Academic Exchange Symposium on British History held at Peking University in September this year. The theme of this conference was the legacy of the British Middle Ages and its impact on subsequent historical development. A total of 17 scholars from both sides attended. Among the British scholars were many academic authorities, including David Carpenter from King's College London and David Carpenter from the University of Cambridge. George Garnett, Harry Dickinson of the University of Edinburgh, Lawrence Goldman, current director of the Institute of History at the University of London, Nicholas Vincent of the University of East Anglia, etc. Their results represent the highest level of British historical research. Chinese scholars can directly dialogue with British scholars on British medieval history, and their papers are highly valued by the British, which reflects the Chinese British history discipline's integration with international standards in the study of British history. The articles included in this book focus on the excavation of new materials and the application of new perspectives. They include new interpretations of old topics and combing of academic history, as well as exploration of new issues and attempts at new concepts, showing the multiple aspects of British history.
