Chapters 8 to 18 cover the classical era, describing the Trojan War, the two Greco-Persian Wars, the Age of Pericles, the Peloponnesian War, Alexander, the Roman Empire, Caesar the Great, Augustus the Great, the Western Roman Empire and the birth of Christianity. Chapters 19 and 20 are medieval history, about Byzantium. Chapters 21 to 28 are modern history, describing the Renaissance, Industrial Revolution, Enlightenment, Russian history, the American Civil War and the two world wars.
