About This Novel

Cao Cao (AD 155--220), named Mengde, was a native of Qiao County, Peiguo (now Bozhou, Anhui). He was an outstanding politician and military strategist during the Three Kingdoms period, and he also had profound attainments in literature. His thoughts had a great influence on later generations and are worth studying. Since there is currently a lack of a good quality compilation of Cao Cao's works on the market, we have reprinted this collection of Cao Cao. This collection was compiled and printed in 1959. It is based on Ding Fubao's Collection of Famous Masters of the Han, Wei and Six Dynasties and the Collection of Emperor Wu of Wei. For the poems and essays, I have used Chronicles of the Three Kingdoms, Song Dynasty Music Chronicles, Yuefu Poetry Collection and various other books for proofreading, and the sources have been indicated.
