About This Novel

In the spring of 1949, the Kuomintang regime was retreating steadily on the mainland, and two airlines, China Airlines and Yuanhang Airlines, moved to Hong Kong. The two airlines compete fiercely in Hong Kong, the market is shrinking, and they are facing huge pressure to survive. On the one hand, the corrupt Kuomintang government has driven people crazy, while British and American capital forces are eager to annex the assets of the two airlines. Across both airlines, thousands of employees are homesick and eager to return to participate in the construction of the soon-to-be-established New China. Members of our party's underground organizations at all levels, represented by Nie Yunkai and Shen Xiyan, under the leadership of the Party Central Committee, went deep into the interior of the two airlines. With their passion and true feelings, they influenced the top officials of the two airlines who were hesitant at the historical juncture. While gathering people's support, they bravely and strategically dealt with the reactionary forces of the Kuomintang, paying the price of blood, fire, life and death for their success. Finally, in the early winter of 1949, they successfully planned the uprising of the two airlines. Twelve planes carrying the top executives and technical backbones of the two airlines took off from Hong Kong and flew to the embrace of the motherland.
