Ab Coral
About This Novel
"ab coral" is the 2013 Akutagawa Prize-winning work. It includes the Akutagawa Award-winning work "Ab Coral" and three short stories "Ball", "Minkei's Flower" and "Rainbow". "Ab Coral" is a fragment of childhood memories. It re-examines the story of six years old from the perspective of ten years later and forty years later, giving people a unique sense of time. The article tells the story of an only daughter born in an intellectual family in the Showa era, from birth to growing up to accompanying her parents on her last journey. A father and daughter who originally lived in a three-story building moved to a small house because of the war. The family hired a housekeeper, and the housekeeper's relationship with her father became increasingly close. The home slowly became what the housekeeper expected. As a result, the close relationship between father and daughter was destroyed, and the child decided to leave this home that no longer belonged to him. "Ball", "Dome Hui's Flower" and "Rainbow" are semi-fantasy short stories with the same little girl Min Hui as the protagonist.
